Life and Beth

November 2014

Christmas in an Alan Ayckbourn play is never a season of peace and goodwill. Beth, the late middle-aged widow of Gordon, an over-enthusiastic and overbearing health and safety manager, is facing her first Christmas without him. However, her son, his girlfriend, sister-in-law and vicar are all there for support. What can go wrong? Then the vicar unwittingly summons the ghost of Gordon who is refusing to let death slow him down as his smugly, prattling ghost continues to try to order Beth’s life. With more than a dash of Noël Coward’s Blithe Spirit, Ayckbourn’s inspiration for this play, Life and Beth, is just right for an entertaining and delightful run-up to Christmas!
